1. Why is our current pastor retiring?
Pastor Moore has lead NEC through tremendous growth for over thirty years. After much prayer and discussion with his family, Pastor Moore has determined that it is time for him to move to the next phase of his life with 1st Lady Sis. Hope.
2. What is the timeline for the search and transition process?
The goal is to have a new pastor selected by January 2026. A high-level timeline of events for the search process is posted on NEC’s website, under the Pastoral Search section.
3. How will the search committee involve the congregation in the selection process?
At the appropriate time, the search committee will conduct listening sessions and/or surveys with the congregation.
4. Who selected the search committee?
NEC’s Leadership Team prayerfully selected the search committee from congregational membership. The Leadership Team based its selection on several factors, including, but not limited to: length of church membership, church involvement/engagement, consistent and ongoing attendance, and external and/or professional experience and perspective that could positively assist in the search process.
5. What are the search committee’s duties and responsibilities?
The search committee is in place to develop and follow a process to identify qualified candidates for the position of Senior pastor. This process will culminate in a vote, by the Church congregation, to select the next Senior Pastor of NEC.
6. Will there be opportunities for congregational input and feedback during the search?

At the appropriate time, the search committee will conduct listening sessions and/or surveys with the congregation.

Church members may submit questions and feedback through the Pastoral Search section on the NEC website.
7. How will the search committee keep the congregation updated on the progress of the search?
The search committee will provide periodic updates during designated Sunday Church services. A timeline of high-level activity for the search process and FAQs are posted under the Pastoral Search section of NEC’s website.
8. Will there be interim pastoral leadership during the search process?
Pastor Moore will continue in his current role as Senior Pastor throughout the search process.
9. How will the final decision of selecting the next pastor be made and by whom?
NEC’s congregation will make the final decision on the next pastor by vote.
10. How can the congregation support the search committee throughout this process?
The congregation can support the search committee by being informed about the process and sharing questions and concerns in a timely way through the communication portal on NEC’s website. The most important element to congregational support is prayer. Please keep the search committee and the entire church lifted in prayer.
